Quaint hotel with lovely sea view if you can get an oceanview room. Nice rooftop deck with hot tub and fun pub/cafe under hotel that is open late into the night but is not noisy for hotel guests. In an area that caters to locals not so much tourists so get a flavour for the real Spain...loved the place...
I liked the spanish atmosphere and the friendliness of the staff. The rooms were clean and confortable, with fresh fruit and mineral water every day.
Second time we've stayed and will be going back. Fantastic setting, staff really helpful, a really lovely hotel.
The location - it is right on the beach, the seaview rooms are extraordinary! The neighbourhood is also great, very good restaurants around. This is already my second stay here and I am going to come back. Thank you!
This is a wonderful hotel. Right by the beach, with a wonderful terrace and jacuzzi with sea view. The staff is very nice and helpful. I definitely recommend it.
The beach in which the hotel is located is not the best around.
The location was fantastic - our room was directly over the beach with a view to Africa. The room was well soundproofed with electric persianas and modern windows. The room was clean and tidy. The bathroom was small but well equipped and I had an excellent shower. The hotel provided water in the room and extra pillows and blankets. The TV and aircon were good. The best thing was the spa terrace with a jacuzzi and loungers which looked out to the sea and mountains. The sauna looked good but it was 41 degrees that day so we didn't bother. Staff spoke Spanish and English. It was overall a great place to stay and we had the best view for Virgen Carmen parades. Also I don't know why people are moaning about the noise. It's as noisy as anywhere in Spain and you just need earplugs anyway - I found it rather quiet, especially considering the party weekend.
The hotel did not make it clear when we booked in that you have to pay 24 euros just to use the hotel loungers, which I thought was a bit much - it's not Ibiza! It's El Palo! The cafe was a bit dirty with food all over the floor (Four tables were completely dirty and the staff were chatting) and a lot of flies so we didn't eat there. However, it was OK - there are a million restaurants there so we just went down the road, where it was cheaper anyway. The brochure in our room didn't tell us anything about how to call reception, book a massage or if there was any room service so we didn't bother - we probably would have done if it was apparent. The decor in the halls is a bit dated compared to the rest of the hotel and the black/cuban figurines are a bit racist for international tastes - I am not sure how a black person would feel about them. I know they are acceptable in Spain but not in the UK or US for sure. I think La Chancla should just be itself and just be an El Palo hotel - it would do a lot better to just drop the fakery: this is Andalucia not the Baleares. We will stay again because of the positives but it would be nice to see a more Andalucian touch.
Great location right by the sea. Staff was friendly and the room was adequate. Right above a bar so good if you fancy being in the centre of the nightlife.
Room was a bit on the small side and the bed was a bit hard, apart from that it was fine.
The room on the rooftop, the ocean view, the loungebeds on the beach & the breakfast next door.
The sea view from our room window in the morning, before the crowds arrived, was wonderful. The bar/cafe had excellent service and a relaxed atmosphere. Loved the outdoor terrace overlooking the beach. If you are looking for a 'quiet' hotel and breakfast before 9.30am, this is not the place to stay at.
Good budget hotel nearly on the beach. Ideal location to visit malaga (bus 11) and to visit Gibraltar, Marbella, Granada (car rent).
Absolutely fantastic for a short stay. Not suitable for "all included" lovers. A small cozy hotel in a local district straight on the beach, with a popular local cafe-bar on the ground floor and few rooms on the second, most of them with a sea view. A perfect roof terrace with jacuzzi and sauna (there are two additional rooms there, but with roof windows only). We stayed in a twin room - not a big one, but very clean, bath ok, hot water, beds sufficiently comfortable, fantastic sea and palms view through the window. Definitely will come back!
Could be too noisy at night.
I find experience realy nice ! I just can't wait to touch the sea again in Malaga's paradise!
We decided to stay for an additional night and since our rooms were not available, we were given and appartment for the extra night for no additional cost. The hotel staff were generally very pleasant and helpful.
The only somewhat negative point was the breakfast, which was rather limited.
For the price of this room, we had a room overlooking the med, access to a rooftop terrace with a hottub and sauna, all in a lovely part of Malaga, removed from the busier centre. On top of all that, the staff was incredibly kind and helpful, and the cocktails in the downstairs bar were fantastic. Great value for money.
I'm afraid one issue I have to mention. Although our apartment was very pleasant and cleaned by staff every day, I became aware of the sofa being infested with biting insects, and I was bitten quite badly by what I think were cat or dog fleas. I simply believe that a cat or dog has stayed in the room at some time resulting in the infestation. All it needs is for the sofa to be sprayed.
